We’ve linked to it right at the start today, but there’s been some reasonably seismic news this past week from the Executive Office of the President of the United States. Ol’ Joey B made some big statements to do with bud. If by some chance you’ve not yet heard, make sure you keep scrolling.
Today’s caption: Now this guy, he had some serious frickin’ stories. Just detailing his legal battles are interesting enough, but his escape from prison and subsequent life as a fugitive are fascinating, and most definitely worth your time.
“They’ve outlawed the No. 1 vegetable on the planet.” Timothy Leary
President Joe Biden, in a series of Tweets last week, amongst other things, decreed that people federally convicted of non-violent minor possession would be pardoned, and that there should be a review into the scheduling of cannabis as a controlled substance. But this article from GPS gives you a lot more insight than that.
We’ve covered it previously, but the Norwegians are back at it again, with the most peaceful and still brilliantly captivating protests on cannabis. In the video you can watch them deliver cannabis plants to parliament – they literally knock on the door(!).
We seem to be very two steps forward, two steps back in the UK right now. A shifting government hasn’t helped things, but this week a group of Conservative police commissioners have called for cannabis to be listed as a Class A controlled substance. We’re not even joking.
When you smoke, it’s the flower. Bees sure do love flowers, but is cannabis good for them? This wonderful piece, with a huge amount of detail, dives into the science surrounding one of the most important creatures in our natural environment and their relationship to weed.
Beyond the efforts at the Presidential level, there are other very strong programs surrounding cannabis reform and prisoner care already in effect. Case in point in Pennsylvania, where more than 3,500 cannabis conviction pardons have been applied for under an initiative rolled out by the governor.
The idioms surrounding the mixing of wine, beer, and spirits are nothing if not ubiquitous. But what’s it like if you infuse an alcoholic beverage with a cannabinoid like CBD? Is it stronger? Will it ruin your night? Well, this piece has it covered.
