“Why July?”
“I didn’t…”
Happy 710, folks!
Summer’s in full swing in this neck of the woods (though the grey skies seem to suggest otherwise). Luckily, as a neat distraction, the cannabis sector never fails to deliver some full spectrum fun and frolics (much in the style of Wham! – image below).
Ready for six of the best news t’ings from the past seven days? Read on…
Oh – BTW – did you check out our recent podcast? The one that dropped on Friday? The one where (in the absence of guests) Dave and Jamie wax and wane about the current state of cannabis marketing? Oh you didn’t yet? No sweat. Here ya go.
In what’s fast becoming the biggest anticlimax the cannabis world has seen, the German government has *finally* set out a timeline for the first phase of its lengthy path to legalisation.
Pillar 1, which will come into play ‘towards the end of 2023’, aims to set a chain reaction of cultivation clubs into being – by essentially striking cannabis from the narcotics list.
Gotta love it when law enforcement get all self-congratulatory about their ability to quell criminal activity. Across June, British police are reported to have busted numerous illegal cannabis grows – securing some 180,000 plants.
Those behind the lawsuit – which alleges breach of contract and fiduciary duty – claim that Cookies’ execs abused their position of power ‘lining their pockets’ and ‘stealing proprietary genetics’. Oh my!
In more telling UK developments, the Scottish government has declared that the war on drugs has ‘failed’ and is calling for decriminalisation of illicit substances – and a proactive approach to harm reduction.
Scotland’s Drugs and Alcohol Policy Minister, Elena Whitham is calling on the UK government to ‘take a public health approach to addiction and abandon the criminalization model’.
Cannabis marketing is notoriously difficult to navigate. But if we want a thriving industry, then SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE! Luckily, the Cannabis Media Council recently dropped a ‘Full Spectrum’ set of responsible advertising guidelines. Just what we needed!
As temperatures rise and summer sets in (we hope!), more and more consumers are sampling infused beverages for the first time. But those unable to access these delectable drinks in a ready to go format may want to try making their own… So here's a zesty little recipe!
