Happy Spannabis week everyone! Yup, the canna spotlight is once again shining upon Barcelona over the next few days, and is sure to be a buzz-filled blur of sunshine, smoke, and social clubs.
As rec cannabis edges towards legalisation in Germany, an interesting ad from one of the nation’s medical cannabis companies has tongues wagging, heads scratching, and some advocates seething. Hemp fanciers in the small South American nation of Guyana are confident that the winds of change are in the air. Rumour has it that ‘a regulatory body and framework are being readied’ by the country’s Ministry of Agriculture – a move that’s seemingly taken a couple of years since the 2022 Hemp Bill was passed in the former British colony.
Thailand’s move to ban recreational cannabis – despite legalising it two years ago – now has a timeline in place (kinda). It’s due to be reclassified by the ‘end of the year’. Apparently the prospect of $1.2 billion in revenues isn’t reason enough to maintain a flourishing industry.
The Aloha State is set to usher in a new recreational market – starting in January 2026. A strong senate majority was noted as being in favour of adult use; which will make it legal for consumers to grow up to six plants and possess an ounce of flower.
Is the CBD Rush over? Did it ever really start? According to a report in The Guardian, as America edges towards federal legalisation – and more psychoactive substances become mainstream – the CBD market is all but propping up the bar.
