Ahoy, hoy dear thermidorks<! We’ll spare you all of the spooky-kooky Halloweenie stuff… we’re more excited that it’s November this week – a month that’ll see a whole host of canna-activity happening.
As well as MJBizCon right at the end of November, here in the UK we’re kicking off the month with Medical Cannabis Week (1-7 November) – which includes Drug Science’s UK Patient Conference this Friday 3rd November.
This month marks half a decade since medical cannabis was legalised here in the UK. While there’s still a long way to go, this year’s Medical Cannabis Patient Conference is a moment to really explore how far we’ve come. This article gives more detail on what’s on the agenda.
Word on the street is (ok… Business of Cannabis news) that Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board has approved six new consumption lounge licenses. And while all six are to be opening in Las Vegas, we doubt they’ll be up and running for next month’s MJBizCon… so next year, yeah?
Despite being the first EU nation to legalise cannabis, change has been a little slower than most would like. However, the country’s powers-that-be has *finally* given two associations the green light to legally sell to grow and sell cannabis. Great news for local residents, but still a no-go for tourists.
A new study from the US, shows that there is no correlation between cannabis legalisation and road traffic fatalities. Data taken from 4 legal states over a three year period actually shows a 12% decrease – compared with a 2% increase in 5 control (non-legal) states.
As the North African nation continues to make all the right noises around cannabis legalisation, Morocco’s National Agency for Regulating Cannabis Related Activities (ANRAC) has formally appointed Mohamed El Guerrouj, as the agency’s general director – a role he’s been caretaking since September 2022.
It’s always somewhat odd when legal jurisdictions seek to snuff out ‘illegal’ operations. But the US state of Michigan seems to have made a sensible move in managing its marijuana malcontents.
